TAVARES —The 11th Annual Stuff the Bus food drive, benefitting local food pantries, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at three Publix stores throughout the county.

Lake County Transit Division staff and volunteers will be collecting nonperishable food to be stuffed inside a Lake County Connection bus. The food gathered during the campaign will be donated to the Salvation Army in Leesburg, the Lake Cares Food Pantry in Mount Dora and the Angels of Mercy on Clermont, directly helping those in need in the local community.

Nonperishable food items accepted for  donation include canned meats, vegetables, fruits, stews and chili, canned or dry soups, canned or packaged pasta, peanut butter, tea bags and ground coffee, hot and cold cereals, rice, cake and pancake mixes, syrup, powdered milk, juice boxes, granulated sugar, baby food and formula, granola and cereal bars and dry or canned pet food.
