TAVARES — Central Florida celebrates the first inaugural Mobility Week from Oct. 28 to Nov. 5, with the Lake County Transit Division hosting three special events to promote travel alternatives to driving and encourage safe travel practices.
During the 11th Annual Stuff the Bus food drive on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Publix located at 2840 David Walker Drive in Eustis, staff will train residents on how to properly secure their bikes on a LakeXpress bus.
On Monday, Oct. 31, all passengers will receive free rides on LakeXpress’ fixed route service throughout the day. Staff will hand out transit promotional items at the Citizens Boulevard transfer location in Leesburg; Lake Tech, located at 2001 Kurt St., Eustis; and at the Clermont Park-n-Ride Lot transfer location along Route 50 east and west between 6:30 and 9 a.m. and between 4 and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
“We are excited to participate in Mobility Week with a number of activities around the county to promote public transportation and active lifestyles,” said Tomika Monterville, Public Transit Division Manager.
