TAVARES — In October, Hurricane Matthew impacted Lake County with high winds and heavy rain, leaving downed trees and debris. The Lake County Board of County Commissioners today approved a contract extension allowing Waste Pro of Florida, Inc. to continue collecting hurricane debris in unincorporated Lake County through Sunday, Dec. 4.
Residents still requiring debris pickup must contact Lake County Solid Waste at 352-343-3776 or at email@example.com to register their address by Tuesday, Nov. 22.
Debris remaining after Dec. 4 will be required to be cut up to regular yard waste specifications or disposed of by the property owner or a private contractor. Yard waste must be bagged, bundled or in an easy to handle container and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Limbs and branches may be tied, bundled or stacked weighing no more than 50 pounds, be no longer than four feet in length with limbs no greater than six inches in diameter. All yard waste material must be placed within three feet of the curb or edge of the road no later than 6 a.m. on the designated pickup day.
