RELEASE DATE: January 6, 2006

TAVARES — The Lake County Elder Affairs Coordinating Council is hosting a Medicare Part D educational forum on Thursday, Jan. 12, at Lake Receptions, located at 4425 Highway 19A, Mount Dora. The forum is from 1 to 4 p.m.

At the free forum, experts from the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Social Security Administration and SHINE, a volunteer group that advises elders on insurance issues, will share details about the benefits of the new program. The agency representatives will also explain who is eligible for the new program, how to apply and how to get free help to assist with decisions about selecting providers.

Elderly residents who are seeking information about enrollment in the new prescription-drug program are urged to attend. Seating is limited. Light refreshments will be served.

The forums are presented by the Lake County Elder Affairs Coordinating Council, Mid-Florida Community Services, Mid-Florida Area Agency on Aging and the Arnold Palmer Medical Center Foundation of Lake County.
