TAVARES — The Lake County Veterans’ Services Office is moving from the County Administration Building at 315 W. Main St., Tavares to 418 W. Alfred St., Suite C, Tavares. During the transition, the office will be closed for the week of Nov. 20. The office will reopen in its new location at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27 with regular business hours of Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., excluding holidays.
Veterans needing assistance will be seen by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 352-742-6585.
The Veterans’ Services Office provides assistance with Department of Veteran Affairs disability claim applications, secures monetary benefits and conducts outreach at clinics in Tavares, Leesburg and Clermont. Services include offering information relating to benefits for any discharged veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces and their dependents.
The Lake County Veterans’ Services Office was organized in 1945 and is an advocate for the veterans of the state of Florida. The office has a single purpose – service to the more than 30,000 veterans and/or their dependents at no cost, with no discrimination. The office serves as the advocate to the veteran and/or dependent for claims processing and other benefits to which they may be entitled. The office staff coordinates with the Department of Veterans Affairs and other federal and state agencies on benefit entitlements in order to meet the needs of each individual veteran and/or dependent.
