Lake County government offices to close in observance of Veterans Day

RELEASE DATE: November 2, 2018

TAVARES — All offices of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections and Tax Collector will be closed Monday, Nov. 12 in honor of Veterans Day.
 
Lake County Solid Waste residential trash collection services will operate normally during the holiday week and the Central Landfill Facility, 13130 County Landfill Road, Tavares, will be open on Monday, Nov. 12. County convenience centers will be closed on the holiday for residential drop-offs. For information, visit https://lakecountyfl.gov/departments/public_works/solid_waste/
 
The Lake County Animal Shelter, located at 28123 County Road 561, Tavares, will be closed on Monday, but will host the Veterans Day Patriots’ Pet Adoption Weekend on Saturday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. In honor of Veterans Day, all U.S. service members, past and present, are invited to welcome home a loyal pet at no cost. LakeXpress, the county’s fixed-route bus service, and Lake County Connection, the county’s paratransit service, will operate normally on the holiday. For more information and schedules, visit www.ridelakexpress.com.
 
Lake County parks, trails and preserves will remain open on the holiday. For details, visit www.lakecountyfl.gov/parks.  
 
The Lake County Extension Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares, will be closed for the holiday. For information about upcoming events hosted by the Extension, visit http://lake.ifas.ufl.edu/
 
All 15 Lake County Library System libraries will be closed on Monday, Nov 12.  W.T. Bland will be open as usual on Sunday, Nov. 11. For schedules and program details, visit www.mylakelibrary.com.
