TAVARES — The Lake County Cooperative Extension is hosting a discussion about “Controlled-Release Fertilizers for Citrus Production through Best Management Practices” on Tuesday, March 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
The discussion will be led by Dr. Tom Obreza from the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS). He is a professor of nutrient management and water quality with the University’s Soil and Water Science Department. His research focus is in environmental nutrient and water management to maintain economically viable crop production while minimizing negative impacts to Florida's water resources.
In addition, Carol Johnson from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Office of Agricultural Water Policy, will discuss complying with state quality standards for Lake County through best management practices.
