RELEASE DATE: February 26, 2007

TAVARES — The Lake County Cooperative Extension is hosting a discussion about “Controlled-Release Fertilizers for Citrus Production through Best Management Practices” on Tuesday, March 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.

The discussion will be led by Dr. Tom Obreza from the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS). He is a professor of nutrient management and water quality with the University’s Soil and Water Science Department. In addition, Carol Johnson from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Office of Agricultural Water Policy, will discuss complying with state quality standards for Lake County through best management practices.

The Lake County Cooperative Extension is a partnership between the Lake County Board of County Commissioners and the University of Florida IFAS. For more information about the discussion, call Maggie Jarrell at (352) 343-4101.
