RELEASE DATE: July 10, 2007

TAVARES — Lake County park rangers will lead a nature hike on Saturday, July 14, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Palatlakaha River Park and Boat Ramp, located at 12325 Hull Road, Clermont.

The hike is about 1 mile along the park's trail loop. During the hike, park rangers will identify different habitats, such as the Florida Scrub-Jay restoration area and a hammock of large cypress and live oak trees. The group will make frequent stops to identify native plants, wildlife and butterflies.

Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Park rangers also recommend bringing sunscreen, insect repellent and water. For more information or to make reservations for the guided tour, call park rangers Wendy Poag or Gallus Quigley at (352) 742-0992 or e-mail wpoag@lakecountyfl.gov or gquigley@lakecountyfl.gov.
