TAVARES — Lake County park rangers will lead a canoeing and kayaking trip on Saturday, Aug. 11, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Lake Idamere Park, located at 12335 County Road 448, Tavares.
"We will explore the lake for wildlife and native plants, and discuss the importance of water in Florida and how it affects wildlife, plants and ecosystems," said Park Ranger Gallus Quigley.
Participants must register for the guided tour and provide their own canoe or kayak, life vests and paddles. All reservations need to include the number of canoes and kayaks and the number of guests.
After the guided tour, participants are encouraged to explore the park's amenities including the dog park, fishing pier, hiking trail or boundless playground. Participants can also pack a picnic lunch and enjoy it at the park's pavilion with barbecue grills.
