TAVARES — The Lake County Department of Public Safety, Animal Services Division, is hosting the first-ever rabies vaccination clinic on Saturday, Sept. 15, for dogs and cats from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lake County Animal Services, located at 28123 County Road 561 in Tavares.
The rabies vaccination and certificate are free to Lake County residents. To be eligible for the free shots, residents must purchase a County pet license. For a spayed or neutered pet, the license is $5 and for a pet that is not spayed or neutered the license is $11. Only cash will be accepted at the event.
Pets brought to the shelter for the vaccination clinic are required to be either on a leash or in a carrier. For more information about the rabies vaccination clinic, call the Lake County Animal Services Division at (352) 343-9688. The clinic is part of the new Lake County Rabies-Free Program. Additional rabies vaccination clinics will be scheduled in the future.
Animal Services is open for pet adoptions Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
