LEESBURG — The Lake County Department of Public Works will host a public meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 25, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Magnolia Room of Lake-Sumter Community College, located at 9501 U.S. Highway 441 in Leesburg, to discuss the final engineering design for Radio Road from U.S. Highway 441 to south of Treadway School Road.
The meeting will include a brief presentation by the contracted engineering company of T.Y. Lin International of Orlando followed by a question-and-answer session.
Currently, the 1 1/2-mile project area is a two-lane road with unpaved shoulders. The proposed engineering design includes a four-lane, divided roadway between U.S. Highway 441 and Shademoor Drive and a two-lane, divided roadway from Shademoor Drive to south of Treadway School Road. The proposed project also includes the construction of curbs, gutters and stormwater retention areas. Median openings are planned at cross streets to provide roadway access in either direction.
The Department of Public Works anticipates the need to acquire additional right-of-way in specific areas along the proposed project area where the current right-of-way is less than 80 feet wide and to accommodate the construction of stormwater retention areas.
