LASER makes call for donations, volunteers

RELEASE DATE: September 24, 2007

EUSTIS — Citizens of Lake County have been severely impacted by four tornadoes within 10 months, starting with the Christmas day tornado and most recently with the Sept. 20 tornado in Eustis.

Lake and Sumter Emergency Recovery (LASER) is a registered 501c3, not-for-profit organization with a mission to strengthen recovery efforts from any disaster in Lake and Sumter counties. LASER conducts these operations through a coordinated communitywide approach, which provides for the immediate and long-term unmet needs of local citizens.

Because of the size of the recent catastrophe, it is important to inform Central Florida residents that residents of the City of Eustis have been impacted by $6 million in damage within a range of eight blocks.

LASER is encouraging anyone willing to volunteer or donate to call (352) 483-1029 or mail donations to 4900 N. Highway 19A, Mount Dora, FL 32757. In addition, any resident recently affected by the Sept. 20 tornado, is encouraged to call LASER at (352) 483-1029.
