EUSTIS — Lake and Sumter Emergency Recovery (LASER) is asking any Eustis homeowner that incurred damage from the Sept. 20 tornado to contact their office.
LASER is assisting the Lake County Emergency Management Division with gathering tornado-damage information, such as if affected homeowners were underinsured, uninsured or insured. Collecting this information could help tornado victims become eligible for state or federal assistance.
"We are having difficulty reaching the owners of homes that were severely affected by the tornado because many of them are now staying in other places," said Mike Tart, Executive Director of LASER. "In addition, by collecting this information we can determine if there are any unmet needs in the community and help to resolve those issues."
Lake and Sumter Emergency Recovery (LASER) is a registered 501c3, not-for-profit organization with a mission to strengthen recovery efforts from any disaster in Lake and Sumter counties. LASER conducts these operations through a coordinated communitywide approach, which provides for the immediate and long-term unmet needs of local citizens.
To contact LASER, call (352) 483-1029. Donations can be mailed to LASER at 4900 N. Highway 19A, Mount Dora, FL 32757.
