Park rangers to guide nature hike at PEAR Park

RELEASE DATE: October 4, 2007

LEESBURG — Lake County park rangers will lead a nature hike on Saturday, Oct. 6, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Palatlakaha Environmental and Agricultural Reserve (PEAR Park), located at 5336 University Ave., off U.S. Highway 27 near Leesburg.

During the hike along the park's S.J. Stephany Memorial River Trail and through parts of the restoration area, park rangers will identify migrating songbirds, native plants, butterflies and wildlife.

Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Park rangers also recommend bringing sunscreen, insect repellent and water. For more information or to make reservations for the guided tour, call Park Ranger Wendy Poag at (352) 742-0992 or e-mail wpoag@lakecountyfl.gov.
