VolunteerLAKE schedules two workshops for volunteers

RELEASE DATE: January 10, 2008

TAVARESVolunteerLAKE, the Lake County Department of Community Services' program for coordinating volunteer services, is hosting two workshops that will help participants partner more effectively with volunteers on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The free workshops will be held in the conference room of Community Services, located at 1300 S. Duncan Drive, (State Road 19), Building E, in Tavares. Registration is required for both workshops.

The first workshop on Jan. 26 is titled "Neighboring" and will help participants plan project partnerships, reach out and mobilize the community and assess the effectiveness of a partnership. In addition, presentations by guests and community leaders will give participants tips on performing these tasks.

The second workshop on Feb. 5 is titled "Fun with Fundraising" and will help participants identify different types of funding and resources. Workshop attendees will also learn how to develop, implement and document fundraising plans.

For more information about either of these workshops or to register, call Gwen Manning with VolunteerLAKE at (352) 742-6590 or e-mail gmanning@lakecountyfl.gov.
