Educational program to teach participants about how to promote landscape and wildlife diversity

RELEASE DATE: January 17, 2008

TAVARES — The Beautyberry Chapter of the Native Plant Society is teaming with the Lake County Parks & Trails Division, Lake County Water Authority and PEAR Park Association to present an informational program about meadows on Sunday, Jan. 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.

The emphasis of the program will be on promoting diversity in the landscape, encouraging homeowners to consider other landscaping options than the manicured, monoculture lawn and teaching participants how to enhance wildlife habitats.

The presenters for the program are Wendy Poag, Park Ranger with the Lake County Parks & Trails Division, Patricia Burgos, Environmental Program Manager with the Lake County Water Authority and Peter Moeller representing the PEAR Park Association.

For more information or to make reservations for the program, call Wendy Poag at (352) 253-4957 or e-mail wpoag@lakecountyfl.gov.
