LEESBURG — The Lake County Department of Tourism & Business Relations encourages producers, vendors and sponsors of festival, fairs and special events to attend an educational seminar on Thursday, Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Leesburg Center for the Arts, located at 429 W. Magnolia St.
The Florida Festivals and Events Association (FFEA) is hosting the daylong seminar, titled "Sponsorship...the fuel that drives the event engine." The seminar will cover current trends in sponsorship, an introduction to sponsorship, pricing sponsorships, personality selling styles and support sponsorships through public relations.
Sylvia Allen, President of Allen Consulting, located in Holmdel, N.J., will be conducting the seminar. For 30 years, Allen has provided public relations, sponsorship sales and event marketing and management services for hundreds of events around the world including Iditarod in Alaska, Fish House Parade in Minnesota and Oceanfest and the Garden State Arts Center in New Jersey. Allen also serves as an adjunct assistant professor of marketing at New York University. She has written several books, including the critically acclaimed "How to be Successful at Sponsorship Sales" and "A Woman's Guide to Sales Success."
The cost to attend the seminar is $50 for FFEA members and members of the Lake County Department of Tourism & Business Relations, Leesburg Partnership and Leesburg Center for the Arts. The cost for nonmembers is $75. Lunch is included. The seminar is sponsored by the Lake County Department of Tourism & Business Relations, Leesburg Partnership, Daily Commercial and Leesburg Center for the Arts.
