Lake County's tourism department unveils new vacation guide

RELEASE DATE: February 22, 2008

TAVARES — The Lake County Department of Tourism & Business Relations recently unveiled its new 52-page Lake County Vacation Guide to help tourists plan a vacation to this area of Central Florida which boasts hundreds of freshwater lakes and acres of nature preserves.

Vacation Guide
"Vacationers to the Sunshine State are more interested than ever in seeking out new adventures," said Greg Mihalic, Director of the Lake County Department of Tourism & Business Relations. "We designed this vacation guide to help Florida tourists explore some of the outdoor adventures that Lake County is best known for. In addition to pointing out the County's most intriguing activities and venues, the new guide also highlights other vacation necessities such as restaurants and lodging options.”

The guide's layout is similar to a typical magazine as feature articles help give the reader an in-depth look at some of Lake County's popular getaway destinations. Another interesting feature in the guide is the itineraries, which suggest two-day excursions for visitors to explore the County's waterways, cultural attractions and golf courses. In addition to the feature articles and itineraries, the guide has a comprehensive listing of local museums, annual events, art centers, playhouses, boat cruises, parks, golf courses and general attractions.

The Lake County Office of Information Outreach designed the full-color guide. Development of the guide's content and graphical layout took more than a year to complete.

"Because of the volume of information needed to make this comprehensive guide, it was one of the more challenging products for our team to accomplish," said Kelly LaFollette, Director of the Office of Information Outreach. "I hope the community is as proud as we are of this new publication to promote Lake County's tourism industry."
