RELEASE DATE: March 6, 2008

TAVARES — Lake County's park rangers will lead a nature hike on Saturday, March 8, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lake Idamere Park, located at 12335 County Road 448, Tavares.

During the 2.5-mile hike, park rangers will identify plants, animals, butterflies and birds. In addition, rangers will explain future land management plans for the park to combat invasive species, protect Gopher Tortoises and increase the park's biodiversity.

After the guided tour, participants are encouraged to explore the park's amenities including the dog park, fishing pier or boundless playground. Participants can also pack a picnic lunch and enjoy it at the park's pavilion with barbecue grills.

Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Park rangers also recommend bringing insect repellent, sunscreen and water.

For more information or to make reservations for the guided nature hike, call Park Ranger Gallus Quigley at (352) 742-0992 or e-mail parksandtrails@lakecountyfl.gov.
