YALAHA — The former Yalaha Community Center, located at 26548 Yalaha Road, will be demolished on Monday, March 10, at 8 a.m. to help make for room for a new facility.
The Lake County Community Enhancement Area (CEA) Partnership Program has coordinated the community effort of designing and constructing a new center, which is an ongoing process. In 2006, the Board selected the community of Yalaha as its first partnership. Community members, staff and local contractors began the project of replacing the local community center. The project was allocated $80,000 in 2006 and an additional $100,000 last year. An architectural firm has developed a site plan for the project.
Created by the Lake County Board of County Commissioners in 2004, the CEA Partnership Program is designed to assist low-income, unincorporated communities with neighborhood beautification and improvement projects. The Lake County Department of Community Services, Community Development Block Grant Program, manages the CEA Partnership Program.
