Lake County Extension workshop to help homeowners safeguard their home before an extended absence

RELEASE DATE: March 14, 2008

FRUITLAND PARK — Lake County Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent Deborah Boulware will present a workshop, titled "Closing Your Florida Home," on Tuesday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at the Fruitland Park Library, located at 205 W. Berckman St.

"If you are leaving your home for an extended period of time, whether for the season or a long vacation, Closing Your Florida home will help you prepare your home before departure," Boulware said.

The workshop will help participants learn what they can do to minimize the possibility of finding a serious problem when they return home. Closing Your Home has been developed to help Florida residents make plans for protecting their homes when they are to be absent. Some of workshop's topics include moisture problems, deterioration of the exterior and intrusion of burglars and vandals.

To register for the free program, call the Fruitland Park Library at (352) 360-6561.
