TAVARES — The Lake County Extension Office's final education program in its Timely Topics series is "Food Safety and You" on Wednesday, May 7, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
"Hot weather is here to stay and hurricane season is just around the corner,” said Julie England, a Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent with the Lake County Extension Office. “This program looks at ways to reduce your risk of food-borne illness at home and away.”
The workshop will include tips on how to keep a kitchen clean, cooking food to the correct temperature, takeout and picnic food safety and what to keep and what to throw out after a power failure.
Preregistration is requested for this free program. For more information or to register for the program, call Rene Bass at (352) 343-4101 or e-mail email@example.com. The Timely Topic series, a variety of educational programs held at the Lake County Extension Office, will resume in October with day and evening programs.
