TAVARES — The Lake County Extension Office is presenting a three-part 2008 Master Tree Farmer mini-series titled, “Risks and Risk Management” beginning Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
The pre-recorded mini-series, hosted by Clemson University, includes three Tuesday sessions (Sept. 23, 30 and Oct. 7), and is designed for landowners, Extension agents, foresters, consultants, and others who find themselves dealing with this important subject.
Topics for the mini-series include:
- Sept. 23 - An Introduction to Managing Risk in Your Forest; Understanding and Managing Natural Disasters & Changing Climate
- Sept. 30 – Managing and Mitigating Invasive Plant Species, Insects & Diseases
- Oct. 7 - Taxes, Policy, Regulations, Law and Land Use Change
Registration fees are $50 ($15 for shared materials) if received by Aug. 22, and $60 ($20 for shared materials) if received after Aug. 22. Attendees will receive a workbook and presentation notes for each session and upon completion will receive a certificate and hat. Registrations will be accepted until Sept. 9.
