RELEASE DATE: August 20, 2008

DELAND — Lake County park rangers will lead a native plant hike on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Pine Forest Park, located at 32520 State Road 44, near the Lake-Volusia county line.

Park Ranger Wendy Poag will lead the hike through the park identifying the numerous plant species that inhabit the property. Poag will also point out how the park is being managed for Florida Scrub Jays and its diverse wildlife population of reptiles, mammals and birds.

The hike is limited to the first 25 reservations. For more information or to make reservations for the guided nature hike, call Park Ranger Wendy Poag at (352) 742-0992 or e-mail parksandtrails@lakecountyfl.gov.
