TAVARES — After the Labor Day holiday on Monday, the Lake County Department of Community Services will increase its hours during the weekdays — except on Fridays — to better serve its customers.
On Monday-Thursday, offices of the Department located at buildings B and E at 1300 S. Duncan Drive in Tavares will be open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will close on Fridays. Services at building B include Veterans Services, Children’s Services Council, Elders Affairs, Citizens Support Services, VolunteerLAKE, Community Health Worker Program, Public Transportation and We Care. Services at building E include Probation, Teen Court and Housing & Community Development. Two other divisions of the Department of Community Services that are not affected by this change in schedule are Agricultural Education and Library Services.
The projected benefits of the change in schedule are twofold. First, the increased hours on Monday-Thursday will help the Department serve customers who may not be typically able to visit the office during normal working hours. In addition, the Friday closures are expected to reduce the cost of operating the two facilities.
