TAVARES — For the fourth consecutive year, the Lake County 4-H EGC Target Teens air-rifle team has taken top honors at the Annual Florida 4-H Air Rifle Match held at 4-H Camp Ocala.
The EGC Target Teens won 11 of the top 12 awards at the event, including the award for first-place senior team. The seniors competing were Naomi Flack, Andrew Hallmark, Blake Guy, Benjamin McKinney and Devon Smith. In the individual senior competition, Naomi, Andrew and Blake won first, second and fourth place respectively, qualifying them for the honor of competing at the National 4-H Air Rifle Match, to be held in June in South Dakota.
In the intermediate division, the team of Scott Kennedy, Joey Smith, Matthew Guy and Maggie McGuigan won the first place team award, with Scott placing first, Joey placing second and Matthew placing third individually.
This was the first year that Lake County has entered a team in the junior division at the state match. The juniors also won the first-place team award for their age group, with Joshua Guy placing first, Luke McKinney placing second and Hayden Booth placing third individually.
The EGC 4-H Target Teens meet at the Eustis Gun Club on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month during the 4-H year. The 4-H air rifle program emphasizes shooting safety and is open to 4-H members 8 years and older.
