VolunteerLAKE to present ‘Neighboring 1-2-3’ class on May 1

RELEASE DATE: April 30, 2009

TAVARESVolunteerLAKE, Lake County’s Volunteer Center, will present “Neighboring 1-2-3,” a course on how neighbors can work together to strengthen their community, on Friday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center’s auditorium, located at 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares.

The program will focus on three key areas: a structured approach to handling the aftermath of a disaster, dealing with personal disagreements and financial problems without going to court and how to set up a Volunteer Reception Center to manage an influx of outside volunteers in times of crisis.

“Ultimately, we hope attendees will want us to bring this information to their neighborhoods to help us to build a solid base of informed and “disaster ready” communities through education and preplanning, “said John Walton with VolunteerLAKE.

For more information about “Neighboring 1-2-3,” call John Walton or Don Schreiner at (352) 742-6590.
