TAVARES — The Lake County Department of Tourism & Business Relations released this week its first digital version of its quarterly Special Events Guide on the Lake County tourism Web page at www.lakecountyfl.com.
The 26-page guide features events occurring between July-September, including cultural events, festivals and nature activities. Available through the Web site, the digital events guide replaces a previously printed version. In addition to the new flippable online events guide, Web users can download the entire guide or print it from the Web site.
“Digital brochures are part of the answer to achieving a greener marketing campaign for Lake County tourism and reducing our carbon footprint,” said Greg Mihalic, Director of the Lake County Department of Tourism & Business Relations. “Digital brochures can be easily e-mailed and added to our Web site without the need to waste paper.”
The natural gifts of Lake County influence the annual events calendar. Wide-open spaces and sparkling lakes are the background for a host of outdoor events, including fishing tournaments, water-skiing competitions and nationally recognized triathlons. Cultural festivals are premier attractions in Lake County too. With more than a dozen art, craft and music festivals scheduled annually, the artistic vibrancy of the community is alive and well.
“Whether it’s the sports-themed, heritage or family-fun festivals, we hope visitors enjoy these events during their stay in Lake County,” Mihalic said.
To submit an event for the Lake County online calendar, log on to www.lakecountyfl.com, keyword: calendar. The deadline for submitting events for the October-December 2009 quarterly events guide is Wednesday, Aug. 5.
