TAVARES — The Florida Division of Forestry and the Lake County Extension Office will be conducting a Certified Pile Burners Course on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Mid-Florida Research & Education Center, located at 2725 S. Binion Road in Apopka.
This course instructs participants how to burn piles legally, efficiently and safely. Certified pile burners are able to burn two additional hours a day, can obtain multiple day authorizations to burn and can receive priority to burn during dry weather conditions.
The Certified Pile Burners Course includes a test at the end of the session. Participants must receive a grade of 70 percent or higher on the exam and demonstrate a proper pile burn with their local Division of Forestry office to become certified.
The cost of the Certified Pile Burners Course is $50. Registration is required to attend and class size is limited. To register, call Maggie Jarrell at (352) 343-4101.
