Chairman’s Update - April 16, 2021
Looking back at the last year, I am even more proud to represent the great people of Lake County. We’ve banded together in our efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrating the strength, unity and resilience of this great community.

State-supported immunization site at Lake Square Mall to accept walk-ins starting Monday
Lake County will be accepting walk-in appointments for the first and second dose Pfizer vaccine beginning Monday, April 19, at the Lake Square Mall immunization site. Walk-ins will be accepted between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday (April 19 and 20), and 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (April 21-23). The site will be closed on Saturday, April 24.

Lake County to host national beach volleyball championships
Lake County and the Florida Region of USA Volleyball will host the nation’s largest collegiate beach volleyball tournament at the Hickory Point Beach sand volleyball complex this weekend, beginning today and running through April 18. Matches begin at 8 a.m. each day and admission is free. The complex is located at 27345 U.S. Highway 19 in Tavares.

Lake County to accept grant applications for Housing & Human Services programs
The Lake County Office of Housing & Human Services is requesting grant applications to provide as much as $25,000 in support of youth intervention/prevention programs and other human services programs. Grant applications will be accepted beginning Friday, April 16.

Public information meeting for Round Lake Road Widening and Extension project
The public is invited to learn about the Round Lake Road Widening and Extension project at an upcoming public information meeting on April 22 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. The public meeting will be held in person at the Mt. Dora Community Building, located at 520 N. Baker St. in Mt. Dora, 32757. However, participants may also attend via a virtual online or listen-only phone option.
