Keep Lake Beautiful invites volunteers to participate in community cleanup in Groveland
Keep Lake Beautiful (KLB) is inviting volunteers to participate in a community cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 30 in Groveland. Volunteers will meet at the vacant lot located at the intersection of West Broad Street and Ledbetter Street across from the Marion Baysinger Memorial Library, located at 756 West Broad St., Groveland. All volunteers must preregister online at www.lakecountyfl.gov/KLB to participate in this event.

When the Health Department in Lake County (DOH-Lake) began its immunization plan, we received lots of feedback from our community requesting an appointment-based system. In response to those concerns, our Emergency Management staff worked closely with DOH-Lake to form a plan for bringing appointments to Lake County. During our BCC meeting on Jan. 12, your Board of County Commissioners approved the plan and appointments were scheduled within hours of adjourning the meeting. 15 minutes after opening the scheduling portal, appointments were filled, and the website logged over 15,000 unique users.

Lake County seeks grant applicants for emergency food and shelter programs
Qualifying emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies are urged to apply for $148,656 in federal funds awarded to Lake County through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.
