State-supported immunization site at Lake Square Mall to offer second doses through May 25
Lake County will only offer second doses of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine at the state-supported immunization site at Lake Square Mall from Wednesday, May 5 through Tuesday, May 25. First doses will no longer be administered.

Lake County to honor service of late community volunteer
Lake County will honor the service of local community volunteer Glenn Burns with a memorial at the Ferndale Preserve on May 11 at 9 a.m. Members of the family are expected to join Lake County Commissioners, friends and the community to honor his life and work advocating for and supporting our local treasures. The Ferndale Preserve is located at 19220 County Rd. 455 in Ferndale.

The annual celebration highlights the contributions of the travel industry, and this year’s theme, titled “The Power of Travel,” spotlights the critical role that travel will play in driving economic recovery efforts post-pandemic and building a path forward to travel recovery.

Lake County Animal Shelter hosts intergalactic adoption event
May the fur be with you! The Lake County Animal Shelter will host its “May the Fur Be With You” pet adoption event on May 8 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event will include special guests from a galaxy far, far away who will be available for festivities and photos from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Sports events this weekend in Lake County include Olympic Qualifying Swim Meet and High School Volleyball State Championships
Lake County will host two high-profile sporting events this weekend. The 2021 UANA Tokyo Olympics Swimming Qualifier will take place Thursday, April 29 – Sunday, May 2 at the Orlando Health National Training Center in Clermont, and the SSAC High School Girls Beach Volleyball State Championships will take place Thursday, April 29 – Saturday, May 1 at Hickory Point Beach in Tavares.
