Lake County Board of County Commissioners to host meeting in District 3
The Lake County Board of County Commissioners is hosting a series of meetings in each Commission district, and the next meeting will be for District 3, which is represented by Commissioner Kirby Smith. It will be held August 2 at 3 p.m. at the Harris Room inside of the Venetian Center, located at 1 Dozier Court in Leesburg.

Household hazardous waste collection event to be held in Mascotte
The Lake County Solid Waste Division is encouraging Lake County residents to dispose of unwanted household hazardous materials in a safe and environmentally conscious way at an upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Unit collection event. The event will take place from 9 a.m. - noon on Thursday, July 22 at the Mascotte Civic Center parking lot, located at 121 N. Sunset Ave. in Mascotte.

Lake County offices to delay opening July 7 in response to Tropical Storm Elsa
The Lake County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains activated at a Level 2 - Partial Activation in response to Tropical Storm Elsa. In Lake County, potential hazards may include heavy rainfall, wind gusts, inland flooding and isolated tornadoes. Some hazards may come with little to no warning. Residents are encouraged to develop a family communication plan, decide on a meeting location during an emergency, and prepare a disaster go-kit to include important personal, medical and legal documents.

Lake County government offices to close for Independence Day
All offices of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, Tax Collector and the Lake County Extension Center will be closed Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day.
