Tavares – The Lake County Library System and Lake County Supervisor of Elections Office are encouraging the public to visit their local libraries this September during the Books & Ballots campaign.
Books & Ballots coincides with September as National Library Card Signup Month and Sept. 24 as National Voter Registration Day. Although people can sign up for a library card and register to vote all year long, this campaign features on-site representatives who will answer questions regarding libraries and voting.
“This is a great opportunity for everyone to learn about the new resources and services that libraries have to offer,” said George Taylor, Director of the Lake County Library System. “Library cards help people pursue their passions and give students the tools necessary to succeed in school and beyond. We are always finding ways to meet the community’s needs.”
The Books & Ballots campaign is designed to prepare people for the upcoming election year.
“The 2020 elections are fast approaching,” said Alan Hays, Lake County’s Supervisor of Elections. “Our goal is to create a smooth voting experience, and for people to realize that every vote counts. We also invite the public to tour our election office and learn more about the voting process.”
