Lake County government offices to close for Independence Day

RELEASE DATE: June 23, 2021

Tavares – All offices of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, Tax Collector and the Lake County Extension Center will be closed Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day.

The County’s fixed-route bus system, LakeXpress, as well as Lake County Connection, the County’s disadvantaged transportation service, will operate as usual on Monday, July 5. Buses do not run on weekends.

The Lake County Animal Shelter will be closed on Sunday, July 4, but will be open on Monday, July 5.

Lake County Solid Waste will follow the normal operating schedule for residential pickup, and excess garbage will be picked up July 5-9 on the regular collection day. The landfill will be open on Monday, July 5, but customer service will be closed. Drop-offs are not open Mondays, and facilities are not open on Sundays.

 All Lake County Library System libraries will be closed on July 5. Marianne Beck Memorial Library in Howey-in-the-Hills will be closed July 3-5, and the Fruitland Park Library will close at 3 p.m. on July 2 and will be closed on Monday, July 5.
