Apply for a Single-Family Dwelling Unit Online

Please be advised that we have updated our process for single family dwelling units proposing to utilize septic systems. Applicants now have the option of either continuing to apply online by uploading the required documents or by applying with the Department of Health separately. Please be advised that if you choose to upload the Department of Health’s forms, they will be contacting you separately for payment of their fees.

Welcome to Lake County's E-Permitting online service. It offers you an easy way to apply and pay for permits with the touch of a button.

Once your application is received and documents have been uploaded, an Associate Planner will be notified. The Associate Planner will review and (if able) issue a zoning permit within 3-5 business days after the documents have been uploaded. The zoning approvals will be forwarded to Building Services and the Applicant. If uploading Health Department documents for septic approval, zoning will provide the documents to the Health Department to review. If applying for septic approval separately, please contact the Department of Health at (352) 253-6130. Please be advised that the Department of Health will need the zoning approvals to complete their review. If additional information is needed, you will be contacted.

Please Note: Currently, you can apply and pay for all types of residential permits and some small commercial permits. Please call 352-343-9641 or email zoning@lakecountyfl.gov, if you have any questions.

This application does not guarantee that a permit will be issued. You may not start work until the application has been processed, payment has been made and the permit is issued. Starting work prior to the issuance of the permit will result in penalties and fees.

It is the property owner's responsibility to comply with any Homeowners Association requirements or deed restrictions that may apply.

After you complete the first part of the application, you will receive an email. Click on the upload documents tab to see a list of all documents, forms, plans, etc. that will you will need to upload to complete your application.
