Web Soil Survey
The Web Soil Survey (WSS) allows the creation of soil maps in three basic steps. It provides agricultural producers, agencies, Technical Service
Providers and others electronic access to relevant soil and related information needed to
make land-use and management decisions.
The WSS provides:
- An alternative to traditional hardcopy publication;
- The means for quicker delivery of information;
- Electronic access to full soil survey report content;
- Access to the most current data; and
- Allows customers to get just the information they want.
Step 1: Define your area of interest (AOI)
Navigate to your address or county. View and zoom to the area you are interested in. Use the toolbar icon “AOI” to select your acreage with a polygon or rectangle tool.
Step 2: View and print your soil map.
Click on the “Soil Map” tab, click view to look at the soil map, then file and print.
Step 3: Explore your soil information
Click on the “Soil Data Explorer” tab to view all the available options of soil information.
