The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist in the fire loss management program for the unincorporated area of Lake County and to review and evaluate commercial and residential building plans for compliance with pertinent local ordinances and state codes as needed. The position is responsible for reviewing building and site plans and subdivision plats for compliance with fire codes, inspecting new and existing buildings and assisting clients in attaining code compliance, conducting fire safety inspections, providing professional customer service, and preparing required records and reports.
This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.
Requires associate’s degree in fire science or inspection, or a closely related field with four (4) years of related experience.
Requires current State of Florida certification as a Fire Inspector. Must possess or be able to obtain designation as a Certified Plans Examiner within six (6) months.
Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
