Provides technical, administrative and supervisory work assisting the Building Official in directing and coordinating the operations of the Office of Building Services. Reviews the work in the administration and enforcement of building codes and related ordinances.
The incumbent serves as Building Official when the current Building Official is away by offering code interpretation, extending or renewing permits as needed, attending meetings as required, and other duties as needed or required by the Building Official, Assistant County Manager, or County Manager.
May be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires associate's degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, Code Enforcement or a related field. Must possess licenses as required by state law for Plans Examiner and/or Building Inspector (for each trade assigned). Must possess or obtain Building Code Administrators License within six (6) months of employment.
Requires five (5) years of related supervisory experience, knowledge of permitting and other building functions.
Requires a valid Florida driver's license.
