Job Summary:
Lake County has a position open for either a Deputy County Attorney or an Assistant County Attorney III. Only one position will be filled. Litigation and local government experience preferred. Deputy County Attorney

Pay Grade: 29E

This position assists with coordinating the activities of the County Attorney’s Office. Responsible for serving as a legal representative of the Board of County Commissioners, all County departments, agencies and institutions on assigned litigation and business matters, and performing related professional and administrative tasks as required. Develops and implements programs within organizational policies; reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports. May be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Successful candidates would have membership in good standing in the Florida Bar Association and eight (8) years of related experience or six (6) years of related experience and certification in City, County and Local Government Law. Requires a valid Florida Driver's license.

Salary Range: $86,548.80 - $142,625.60 (Normally begins at entry level)


Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant County Attorney III

Pay Grade: 26E

The position provides complex professional legal assistance to County officials and staff. Responsible for researching various legal matters, attending committee and board meetings and providing legal advice, drafting ordinances, reviewing contracts, leases and other legal documents, and performing related professional and administrative tasks as required. The position works independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. May be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Successful candidates would have membership in good standing in the Florida Bar Association and five (5) years of related experience involving local government law, real estate or litigation. Requires a valid Florida Driver's license.

Salary Range: $67,267.20 - $110,884.80 (Normally begins at entry level)
