County employee Stephanie Glass wins prestigious Donn Davis Public Service Award for the U.S. Dept. Of Justice
Posted: October 14, 2011

Lake County Teen Court Coordinator Stephanie Glass was recently chosen to receive the Donn Davis Public Service Award from the U.S. Department of Justice for her work with the Lake County Teen Court program.

The National award recognizes public servants who make a significant contribution to improving the juvenile justice system.

“I am so very proud to receive this award, not for recognition of my accomplishments, but for its meaning and significance,” said Glass. “I had the privilege of knowing and working with Donn Davis when we established the National Association of Youth Courts.  His passion and advocacy to improve the lives of youth inspired and challenged me to do more.”

Through her management of the Teen Court program, Glass developed an alternative referral process for truant students, a peer mediation program, a juvenile civil citation program and a community garden where juvenile probationers can serve community service work hours while providing fresh food to community food banks.

The award will be given by Attorney General Holder, along with other federal leaders, during a town hall meeting on Friday, Oct. 14 in National Harbor, Maryland.

Glass was also recently awarded this year's Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency Distinguished Service Award for Juvenile Justice at both the local and state level.
