The County Manager's Quarterly Employee Recognition event was held on April 13, 2012. The following employees received Accomplishments & Honors recognition.
Carmen Carroll – Carmen is the Building Supervisor with the Building Services Division of Growth Management. In January of this year, a customer wrote to thank and compliment her for her efforts in researching some residential permit paperwork. Carmen quickly, efficiently and kindly eliminated any anxiety the customer had regarding the potential hassles and barriers in this type of research and exceeded his expectations for customer service.
Kathy Edwards – Kathy is a Fire Lieutenant/EMT with the Fire Rescue Division of Public Safety. In February the Eustis Elks Lodge No. 1578 recently presented her with the Firefighter of the Year award for 2011. Lieutenant Edwards was recognized for her hard work and dedication to the Lake County Fire Rescue Division, her many contributions to the community, and for her role in numerous fire safety and prevention education initiatives.
Patty Fletcher – Patty is an Office Associate IV with the Agricultural Education Services Division of Public Resources. She was recently recognized by the Associate of Florida Conservation Districts (AFCD) for her work and accomplishments as their President, and was asked to represent the Florida Chapter at the National Meeting. She also created a statewide brochure for AFCD that has been posted nationwide and is being used as an example for others. In addition, Patty has received praise for her efforts with the coordination of the Tree Give-Away Program and several thank you’s for her work on the recent Lake Soil & Water Conservation District poster contest.
Steve Gaston – Steve is the Professional Standards Coordinator with the Fire Rescue Division of Public Safety. In February, the Central Florida Intelligence Exchange named him Intelligence Liaison Officer (ILO) of the Year for 2011for his role as ILO Coordinator with the Central Florida Fire Chief’s Association. As the ILO Coordinator, Steve has been phenomenal in the information-sharing arena and was recognized for his valued partnership and accomplishments.
Eddie Mason – Eddie is a Trades Crew Leader with the Parks & Trails Division of Public Resources. In February 2012, he graduated from Ashford University with a BA in Business Administration. In this quarter, Eddie also received a master certificate from Villanova University in Applied Project Management.
Lisa Piper – Lisa is a Library Assistant with the Library Services Division of Public Resources. In February, a mother wrote to express her appreciation for Lisa and her Story Time programs. She praised Ms. Lisa for her positive attitude and kindness, which make the children and parents return week after week, and for helping foster a love of reading in her children.
Eric Cotsenmoyer, Bob Rinehart and Brad Russ – Eric is the Mosquito & Aquatic Plant Program Manager, Bob is the Mosquito & Aquatic Plant Supervisor and Brad is an Aquatic Biologist with the Environmental Services Division of Public Works. A citizen wrote a letter to the commissioners thanking the team for their great job in helping to address the aquatic weed problems that developed in the north end of the 9th Street Canal system in Leesburg. The weeds had choked off the canals and the efforts of Eric, Bob and Brad helped to return the canal to a much better condition. Because of their endeavors, fishermen have already returned to the canals and the homeowners can again get their boats into Lake Harris.
Boyd Bruce, Lynda Hogans, Beth Lucas, and Dennis Smolarek – Boyd is an Assistant Library Services Division Manager/Regional Branch Manager, Lynda is an Office Associate II, Beth is a Librarian II and Dennis is a Librarian I with the Library Services Division of Public Resources. In January, the President of Pastfinders of South Lake County Genealogical Society wrote a letter of appreciation to the staff at Cooper Memorial Library. Dennis and Beth were thanked for always greeting the group with smiles and being ready to assist; Lynda was recognized for her problem solving skills and Boyd’s kindness and support were also highlighted. The Society members expressed their appreciation for all the help and support they have received from Cooper Memorial Library staff during the last year.
