The County Manager's Quarterly Employee Recognition event was held on July 20, 2012. The following employees received Accomplishments & Honors recognition.
Megan Brew – Meg is an Extension Agent I with the Agricultural Education Services Division of Public Resources. In May Meg won the Florida Association of County Agricultural Agents Communication Award and the National Association of County Agricultural Agents Communications Award for her newsletter.
Jacqui Droz – Jacqui is a Senior CAD Technician with the Engineering Division of Public Works. She was recognized by another employee for creating and revising a critical map for a Solid Waste Division bid project and for her assistance with the presentation.
Ken Harley – Ken is the Public Transportation Division Manager with the Community Services Department. He received a letter from Beacon College thanking him for going above and in coordinating their 5310 Transportation Grant application.
Rose Mary Lane – Rose Mary is a Day Custodian with the Facilities Development & Management Department. A long-time Lake County citizen expressed her appreciation for how clean and well-kept the County Administration Building is. She also thanked Rose Mary for being so friendly with her assistance with operating the handicap lift. In addition, Rose Mary has received many kudos from other employees for her dedication to Lake County.
Paul Long – Paul is a Graphic Artist I with the Office of Information Outreach. Paul was recognized for the great job he did on the Elder Affairs Council directory. His hard work has taken a vision to a reality.
Juanita Popenoe – Juanita is the County Extension Services Director with the Public Resources Department. In April, her abstract submission, "Using Farm Tours to Promote Extension", was accepted for the American Society for Horticultural Science 2012 Annual Conference.
Amy Stultz – Amy is a Librarian II with the Library Services Division of Public Resources. Amy coordinated the 1st Annual South Lake Green Festival at Cooper Memorial Library on March 17, 2012. Her leadership and determination ensured the festival was both fun and educational for the community.
Cheryl Sutherland – Cheryl is an Office Associate III with the Engineering Division of Public Works. Cheryl has personally taken ownership of the Lake County Community Traffic Safety Motorcycle Safety Fair for the past five years. Through her efforts, the program has gained a great deal of support from the community, fair attendees and the City of Tavares. This year she also coordinated with the Educational Foundation of Lake County on the annual Lake County Back-to-School Safety Fair.
David Walker – David is a Maintenance Technician II with the Facilities Development & Management Department. David has received praise from his fellow employees for his dedication to the County and its facilities and for his immeasurable assistance with the Food Drive.
Sue Carroll, Jim Dowling, Larry Duke, Paul Githuka, Richard Helfst, Vicki Runninger, and Temia Jackson – The GIS Services Division of Information Technology consists of Sue Carroll, Jim Dowling, Larry Duke, Paul Githuka, Richard Helfst, Vicki Runninger, and Temia Jackson, who is now with the Public Works Department. Together this team brought GIS Day to Tavares Middle and High Schools. They worked together to create and present information on Cloud ArcGIS that the kids could really relate to. The teachers indicated they have rarely seen 100% engagement in any lesson activity as they have with ArcGIS Explorer Online.

From the Office of Economic Development & Tourism we have Scott Blankenship, Robert Chandler, Debi Dyer, Kathy Pagan, and Adam Sumner. From the Office of Information Outreach we have Kelly Lafollette, Chris Ayres, Magda Contreras, Elizabeth Heine, Paul Long, and Mario Roberts. Together, this team created the new Economic Development Website using the latest programming architecture. This website will be the foundation template for development of future Lake County government websites.
Ken Dawson, Steve Harris, Jim Kennedy, Demetri Mouyos, Don Murray, Jacob Stanley, Kevin White, Jeff Wisniewski - Environmental Waste Technicians of the Solid Waste Division, Public Works Department - Ken Dawson, Steve Harris, Jim Kennedy, Demetri Mouyos, Don Murray, Jacob Stanley, Kevin White, Jeff Wisniewski. During the past year, this team has worked diligently to complete the formidable task of preparing the Phase II Landfill for closure. They worked to ensure their work was accurate, that the closing went as scheduled and that savings to the County were maximized.
