County to host clothing drive to benefit Goodwill Industries of Central Florida
Posted: October 23, 2013

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners is asking residents to help support Goodwill Industries of Central Florida by giving clothes during a donation drive being held Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Nov. 4 at the Lake County Administration Building, 315 W. Main St., Tavares.

“Goodwill Industries of Central Florida does great work in our community,” said County Commissioner Tim Sullivan, District 1. “By hosting this clothing donation drive, we hope to provide them with items that can help generate revenue, which in-turn, allows them to offer much-needed job training and vocational services to our residents.”

Bins will be located in the rotunda of the Administration Building. Clothing items being donated should be gently used, and accommodate a range of sizes, gender, age groups and occasions. Items donated are tax deductible. For those interested in claiming a tax deduction, receipts for donations should be downloaded from Goodwill’s website at www.goodwillcfl.org/donateGiving.php prior to depositing items. Attendant signatures can be obtained by visiting the County’s Economic Development & Tourism Department, located in the Administration Building, room 233.

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that serves Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties. The organization currently has 26 retail stores, 11 Donation Xpress Centers and eight Job Connection Centers in Central Florida. Last year, they served over 27,500 people, placing over 5,300 into jobs in Central Florida.
