2013 Volunteers Honored

Lake County honors 43 volunteers with over 150 hours of service

Craig Smith, right, pictured with County Manager David Heath and Chairman Jimmy Conner.TAVARES — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners honored 43 volunteers who contributed over 150 hours of service with a special recognition ceremony during the Feb. 25 meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. 

“The Lake County Board of County Commissioners is extremely appreciative of the more than 350 volunteers and their dedicated volunteer service during calendar year 2013,” said Robert Anderson, Lake County human resources director. “These contributions from volunteers assist in fulfilling the County’s goal of providing excellent customer service to the citizens and businesses of Lake County.”

The Board of County Commissioners has received over 25,000 hours of volunteer assistance in the Literacy Program, Teen Court, Emergency Services, Parks & Trails Division and Animal Services, to name a few.

The Board of County Commissioners thanked the volunteers in attendance for their dedication and contributions benefitting the citizens of Lake County. The volunteers recognized Tuesday received certificates for their service. They are as follows:

1. Kathleen Weaver – volunteered 153 hours with the Public Resources Department at Cooper Memorial Library.
2. Linda Perrine – volunteered 156 hours with the Public Resources Department at Cooper Memorial Library.
3. Sondra Surface – volunteered 158 hours with the Public Resources Department at Cooper Memorial Library.
4. Strait Hollis – volunteered 168 hours with the Public Safety Department in the Emergency Management Division.
5. Stephen Flynn – volunteered 183 hours with the Public Safety Department in the Emergency Management Division.
6. Emil Vandevelde – volunteered 187 hours with the Public Safety Department in the Emergency Management Division.
7. David Hasunuma – volunteered 188 Hours with the Public Resources Department at Cooper Memorial Library.
8. Carl DePoy – volunteered 194 hours with the Public Safety Department in the Emergency Management Division.
9. Robert Putman – volunteered 196 hours with the Public Resources Department in the Parks & Trails Division.
10. Lanny Villinis – volunteered 199 hours with the Facilities & Fleet Management Department in the Facilities Division.
11. Peg Lindsay – volunteered 208 hours with the Public Resources Department in the Parks & Trails Division.
12. Paul Branch – volunteered 210 hours with the Public Safety Department in the Emergency Management Division.
13. Tom Merchant – volunteered 218 hours with the Public Resources Department in the Library Services Administrative office.
14. John Walton – volunteered 240 hours with the Public Safety Department in the Emergency Management Division.
