Employee of the Quarter - Third Quarter
Sharon Hogan, Stormwater Technician, Public Works
Posted: May 31, 2017
Sharon is responsible for the Floodplain Management program, which ensures compliance with federal regulations for residential construction within FEMA designated Flood Zones. She always takes the time to explain this complex program and guide customers through the Floodplain permitting process. Sharon often receives compliments from Lake County citizens regarding her helpfulness and willingness to go above and beyond. Recently, Sharon was recognized with a plaque by the Property Owners’ Association of Highland Lakes for her assistance to over 140 residents. She helped the residents demonstrate to FEMA that their homes were not within a Flood Zone, as shown on the FEMA’s Flood Map. Removing the homes from the Flood Zone eliminated the requirement for flood insurance, which will save the residents thousands of dollars each year. In addition, the Floodplain Management program continues to receive satisfactory reviews at every annual audit due to Sharon’s attention to detail and record keeping practices. Her professionalism, pride in her work, and dedication to serving her customers, are qualities all Lake County employees should strive to emulate.
