Sales Surtax Team

The Sales Surtax Team consists of employees from the County Attorney’s Office, County Manager’s Office, Fiscal & Administrative Services and Information Technology. Over the past year, this team collaborated to create an improved process for collecting the Sales Surtax information from all of the Lake County entities. The previous method involved the manual data entry of paper forms and reports, which was less efficient and more time consuming for everyone involved. With the development of the new automated electronic system, there have been several enhancements to the overall sales surtax process. For instance, each entity can submit their sales tax information by utilizing a user-friendly website and the tax calculations are done automatically, so there are no mathematical errors. Not only is this project a major process improvement for Lake County, but it is also beneficial to the surrounding Lake County entities.
