Lake County Office of Parks & Trails maintains more than 40 parks, conservation lands, boat ramps, and trails across Lake County. On October 13, 2000, the Wekiva River and tributaries of Wekiwa Springs Run, Rock Springs Run, and Black Water Creek were designated for inclusion into the National Wild and Scenic River System. The 41.6-miles of the system include wild, scenic and recreational classifications which are managed as a partnership wild and scenic river with multiple state, local government, agency and non-profit involvement with federal oversight by the National Park Service. Lake County is a partner on the Wekiva Wild and Scenic River System Advisory Management Committee.
